The Owens Legacy

The Owens Legacy

The Owens family originated from the “Deep South” of Alabama. During the tough racial times in America the family migrated north, as did a lot of African American families did. The son of a sharecropper “Jesse”, or James Cleveland emerged from physical disabilities and catapulted the Owens family along with the United States of America into a world spotlight. He essentially challenged Adolf hitler in one of the worst world wars, ever known to man. The Owens Legacy was carried down throughout stemming through his only nephew Haywood “Rick” Owens…

Chris carries on that family legacy from sports into real estate. He takes his experience from playing all over the world to assisting people in their own real estate adventures. Traveling and living in over twelve countries has allowed him to embrace all kinds of experiences that has only made him more well-rounded in understanding different obstacles and how to find the best solution.

I saw the importance in understanding legacy when my teacher asked me at a young age to tell the class about my “great” uncle Jesse Owens. I didn’t really know what to say. I went home and asked my mother and father to tell me more about my uncle, I wanted to know everything I could know about him, from what was he thinking when he saw Hitler to where did he have his house. From this point on I embraced legacy that stayed with me. It resinated so much with me that I got my degree in History. Even with owning a home families cherish so many memories in them, that I share in understanding the compassion, that people have for their homes. I look to extend this value from my own understanding of my legacy and history.
